Summons for NC Hills scam accused
Assam special court on Tuesday directed the Guwahati jail authorities to produce the deputy director of social welfare department, R.H. Khan, the prime accused of North Cachar Hills scam before the court on June 28.
The Guwahati Central Jail authorities were avoiding his production before the court on different pretext. The CBI has sought the custody of Khan after the recovery of Rs 13.45 crores hard-cash from the house of his relative Amjad Hussain, a junior engineer in the rural development department.
The CBI sources said that Hussain, who happens to be the brother-in law of Khan has confessed that it was not his money. “The money recovered from my house belongs to R.H. Khan who had concealed the money in my garage with the consent of his sister only,” Hussain languishing in CBI custody told reporters at the court which on Tuesday extended his custody for another four days. The Guwahati Jail Authorities on Tuesday deferred the production of Khan before the Assam special court second time in a week on pretext that he was down with lose motions.
