Sushma debuts on Twitter
Leader of the Oppostion Sushma Swaraj on Friday made her social networking debut by opening her account on Twitter. Her account attracted over 220 followers in just 24 hours.
Ms Swaraj opened her Twitter account, “SushmaSwarajBJP”, with the following words: “Friends, this is Sushma Swaraj, MP and leader of opposition. We hope to keep in touch on Twitter.”
Two hours after her initial tweet, she tweeted on the Central Vigilance Commissioner’s appointment issue. The BJP had boycotted the oath-taking ceremony of the newly-appointed CVC, P.J. Thomas.
“I did record my dissent on CVC’s appointment in my own hand saying “I disagree,” the BJP leader tweeted.
The Supreme Court had recently made an observation asking how Mr P.V. Thomas can continue in office when a chargesheet was pending against him.
Ms Swaraj also tweeted on the 26/11 anniversary saying: “Mumbai ke shahidon ko shat shat Pranam (My tributes to the martyrs of Mumbai).”
The senior BJP leader later tweeted on women’s safety in the national capital. “Bihar is safe and Delhi is unsafe for women,” she wrote.
