Suspect ship in Kerala collision sailing towards Chennai
The Indian Navy has released further information about the ship suspected to have smashed into a fishing vessel off kerala.
Suspect ship the MV Prabhu Daya is reportedly steaming towards Chennai to subject itself for inquiry into the collision off Alappuzha on March 1, killing two and leaving three fishermen missing. DGC sources say the ship, expected at Chennai on Monday, will be brought to Kochi for further investigation.
The development comes alongside reports that the Navy has located an 'object' in deep sea at the spot where the collision supposedly happened.. Naval authorities deployed the INS Sarvekshak, fitted with side scan sonar capable of detecting underwater objects, to the area on Friday to locate the sunken boat.
Specialised deep sea naval divers would also try to ascertain the ‘object’. Naval and Coast Guard ships, meanwhile, are continuing the search for the three missing fishermen of the boat 'Don-1' which was hit by the vessel.
The collision in the wee hours of Thursday shocked the fishing community of Neendakara in Kollam district as it happened within two weeks after two fishermen were shot dead allegedly by marines onboard Italian ship Enrica Lexie.
