Suspected Pak intruder shot dead at LoC
A suspected Pakistani intruder was shot dead by Indian troops along the Line of Control in Jammu and Kashmir’s Poonch district on Tuesday.
Reports from the frontier said that a man tried to sneak into Jammu and Kashmir from PoK early Tuesday. The Army jawans at a nearby post in Saujian sector along the de facto border spotted him and opened fire killing him instantly. The Army officials, however, said that the slain man was carrying an improvised explosive device (IED) with him which exploded when hit by a bullet fired by Indian jawans and he was blown up.
Meanwhile, all the three militants engaged in a firefight with the security forces in Mandora village of Tral area in southern Pulwama district have been killed. A member of local police’s counter-insurgency special operations group (SOG) has also died and two CRPF jawans were injured in the gun battle, officials said.
The fighting broke out early Tuesday when the security forces following reports about the presence of three Hizb-ul-Mujahideen militants laid siege to the area.
