Swami Kamalanand granted bail in “hate speech” case
Hyderabad: A local court here today granted bail to Swami Kamalanand Bharathi, who was arrested earlier this week for his alleged hate speech.
Bharathi was arrested in Kurnool district on January 14 and sent to judicial custody till January 27. He was later remanded to two days police custody on January 16 by the court.
While granting bail, the Nampally court directed him to produce two sureties of Rs 50,000 each.
A case was registered against Bharathi under section 153 of IPC (promoting enmity between different groups on ground of religion) on January 10 in Mirchowk police station in the city here.
The case was registered following a complaint by one Rehman that while addressing a meeting on January 9 the Swami used inflammatory and objectionable words hurting the religious sentiments of a community, while condemning the speech of MIM legislator Akbaruddin Owaisi, who was recently arrested for his alleged provocative speeches against a particular community.
