T-Cong leaders to meet Antony Committee on August 19
Hyderabad: The ministers and Congress legislators of Telangana region will make a representation with the Antony Committee at the national capital on August 19th.
Talking to reporters after a delegation of Telangana leaders called on PCC President Botsa Satyanayarana at Gandhi Bhavan here on Friday, Ministers - D Sridhar Babu and Uttam Kumar and Karimnagar MP Ponnam Prabhakar told reporters that the Telangana leaders would express their grievances and concerns before the Antony Committee.
They accused the Telugu Desam Party and YSR Congress party of adopting dual standards on the Telangana issue. While TDP president N Chandrababu Naidu wrote a letter to the Centre supporting Telangana, YSRCP passed a resolution in its plenary session in favour of statehood for the region. However, both the parties have now reversed their stand.
While the TDP MPs were stalling the proceedings of Parliament, the YSRCP was provoking the sentiments of people in Seemandhra region by organising protests. They also slammed the YSRCP for resorting to mass resignations. They alleged that the on-going Samaikhyandhra agitation was damaging the economy of Andhra Pradesh.
The delegation comprised of Deputy Chief Minister Damodar Rajanarasimha, Panchayat Raj Minister K Jana Reddy, Labour Minister Danam Nagender, MLC and former minister Mohammad Ali Shabbir and other ministers and legislators.
Danam seeks separate meeting with Antony Committee
Labour Minister Danam Nagender on Friday asked PCC President Botsa Satyanarayana to arrange separate meeting of leaders from Hyderabad with the Antony Committee on the State's bifurcation issue.
Talking to reporters at Gandhi Bhavan here, Danam said that there was no clarity on the status of Hyderabad. The Centre needs to give more clarity on whether the city would be a Union Territory or the joint capital and it would function. Therefore, he said that the ministers and legislators from the GHMC would meet the Antony Committee separately to discuss the issue.
Danam, who is also the president of Greater Hyderabad Congress, refused to elaborate on what the Congress leaders from the city would discuss with the Antony Committee. He said he would disclose the details only after the meeting.
