‘Talks on for Sharif-PM meet Agenda’
Pakistani and Indian officials are finalising the agenda for Prime Ministers Nawaz Sharif and Manmohan Singh, who are likely to meet on the sidelines of UN summit in September. “We are discussing the things that can be put on the table.
The (Prime Ministers) meeting is on the cards,” said a senior government official. Pakistan and India have recently revived back-channel diplomacy, also known as Track 2 diplomacy, primarily to set the agenda for the meeting of the two Prime Ministers.
For this purpose Pakistan’s special envoy for back-channel diplomacy, Shehryar Khan, recently met with the Indian Prime Minister.
Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif has ordered the foreign ministry to make every effort for friendly ties with India saying better relations with New Delhi is key to peace inSouth Asia.
