Tea garden owner, son and others abducted
Tinsukia (Assam): A tea garden owner, his son and four tea garden employees went missing after they were suspected to have been kidnapped from their garden in upper Assam's Tinsukia district, sources said on Tuesday.
Official sources said no FIR had been lodged with the police so far about the six being either abducted or missing since last night.
A group of gunmen forced Omprakash Chaukhani, owner of Chaukhani group of gardens, his son and the four employees into a car when they were returning home, officials said. They were allegedly taken to Rupai Sidling in Doomdooma, Chaukhani's relatives said. The garden manager, accountant, another employee and the driver of the vehicle were let off at a distance, the relatives said.
The immediate family of Omprakash Chaukhani have been tight-lipped about the incident. Chaukhani group is a prominent tea planting company and owns four gardens - Chaukhani, Anand, Dhola and Mohadeubari.
