Techie suicide: Breakup led to depression
Hyderabad: Ashwini Nairy, the 22-year-old software engineer, who jumped to her death on Tuesday was suffering from chronic depression.
Her condition further aggravated when her boyfriend broke up with her as was revealed in one of the SMSes from her mobile.
“She was in a relationship with her NIT classmate Ravish George. We came to know this after checking her mobile phone,” said Madhapur ACP Ramnarasimha Reddy.
One of the SMSes Ravish sent to her on Monday night said they should break up since he was away. Ravish is working in a private company in Mumbai.
Police has not booked any case against Ravish since his activities do not amount to “abetment of suicide”. “What we understood from the SMSes is that he has not harassed her. She was already unwell and was undergoing treatment for depression for the last two years,” Reddy said.
Though doctors from a private hospital had advised her father Manjunath not to let her live alone, Aswini lived alone in a paying guest accommodation in Kon-dapur. “The doctors had already warned her father that she had suicidal tendencies,” the ACP said. Ashwini did not hold anyone responsible for her suicide.
