Telangana to rock Hyderabad as parties plan protests while Centre works out bifurcation

UPA coordination committee to decide by July 31
New Delhi: A meeting of UPA Coordination Committee has been called on July 31 to take a view on the vexed Telangana issue amid indications from the party that creation of a separate state is now a 'fait accompli' despite the complications attached to it.
Senior party leaders from the state said that creation of a separate state appears to be a fait accompli but the party will have to address complications attached with it. A CWC meeting is also expected to be held after the coordination committee meeting.
 
TPJAC to go ahead with Maha Dharna on Aug 1
Hyderabad: Despite the Centre giving clear indications that it was in favour of giving statehood to Telangana region, the Telangana Political Joint Action Committee announced that it would go ahead with its Maha Dharna in the city on August 1st.
Talking to reporters after meeting Telangana Rashtra Samithi president K. Chandrasekhar Rao at his residence, TPJAC chairman Prof. M. Kodandaram on Sunday said that the people would accept nothing less than a Telangana state with 10 districts with Hyderabad as its capital. He warned the Centre against making any changes in the boundaries of Telangana.
Kodandaram said that the TPJAC would continue its agitation till the formation of Telangana State and appealed to the people to participate in large numbers in the proposed Maha Dharna on August 1st.
 
Samaikhya Andhra Samithi calls for Colleges' Bandh
Hyderabad: Samaikhya Andhra Samithi on Sunday gave a call for Colleges' Bandh on August 3 in the limits of Greater Hyderabad.
Warning the Centre of serious consequences if it divides the Andhra Pradesh, Samithi president Kumar Chowdhary Yadav said that the agitations would be organised across the State if the Centre decides in favour of Telangana formation. He said that students would participate in the protest in large numbers and therefore, Colleges' Bandh have been called on August 3.
 
OUJAC members held for protest at YSRCP office
Hyderabad: Several activists of Osmania University Joint Action Committee were taken into custody when they tried to barge into the office of YSR Congress party at Jubilee Hills here on Sunday.
The OUJAC members held strong protest at the YSRCP office and accused the party MLAs of trying to sabotage the formation of Telangana by giving mass resignations at a time when the Centre was taking a favourable decision on the statehood issue.
When the pro-Telangana activists tried to break open the office gate, police foiled their attempt and took them into custody. They were shifted to a nearby police station and released later.
Meanwhile, the pro-Telangana activists shouted slogans against YSRCP Honorary president Vijayamma when she went to participate in the Bonalu Jatara at Ujjaini Mahankali Temple in Secunderabad on Sunday.
 
AP's division will damage Congress, says Veerashiva Reddy
Kadapa: Kamalapuram Congress MLA Veerashiva Reddy, who resigned in favour of Samaikhyandhra, on Sunday said that the Congress would win at least 20 Lok Sabha seats if it keeps Andhra Pradesh united.
Talking to reporters here, Veerashiva Reddy said that the Congress party would be doing a mistake if it decides to support formation of Telangana State. He said besides other problems, the division of State would cause immense damage to the Congress party. Opposing the proposal of Rayala Telangana, he said that the no political group was empowered to divide the Rayalaseema region.
Veerashiva Reddy also warned the Seemandhra MPs and ministers, who do not oppose bifurcation of the State, of strong protests by the people in their own constituencies.
 
Telangana will become another Chattisgarh: Ex-DGP
Visakhapatnam: Former DGP N Swaranjit Sen on Sunday feared that formation of Telangana State would increase Maoists activities in the state.
Talking to reporters here, Swaranjit Sen said that there would be a spurt in naxal activities if Andhra Pradesh gets divided. He said Telangana would become another Chattisgarh after its get statehood.
The former DGP advised that Telangana should be created after solving the naxal problem in the neighbouring Chattisgarh.
