Tendulkar deserves Bharat Ratna: Mamata Banerjee
Taking a break from government baiting, West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee on Friday congratulated Indian batting maestro Sachin Tendulkar for his elusive 100th international ton and said that he deserved India's highest civilian award – the Bharat Ratna.
"Our chief minister Mamata Banerjee today congratulated Sachin Tendulkar for his historic achievement via SMS. She has said that he deserves the Bharat Ratna," said Arup Biswas, Housing Minister (independent charge).
Tendulkar scored his elusive 100th international ton on Friday, against Bangladesh in the fourth match of the Asia Cup in Mirpur near Dhaka.
He got to the magic figure in 138 balls, hitting 10 fours and a six.
