Tenth BSP MLA charged with rape
A woman form Shahjahanpur district has accused Neeraj Maurya, the BSP MLA from Jalalpur, and his aides of abducting her and raping her.
In an affidavit filed before judicial magistrate Parul Pawar, the victim has alleged that she was kidnapped by BSP MLA Neeraj Maurya's goons and kept at his Jalalabad residence for a month in November 2010.
She alleged that the MLA and his aides repeatedly raped her during this period and then took her to a farmhouse in Haryana where she was drugged most of the time.
The woman became pregnant and even gave birth to a baby boy after which she was abandoned at the farmhouse.
She later managed to return home and informed family members. The victim's father has alleged that the local police refused to lodge an FIR against the legislator.
"We are being threatened by the MLA and his men to keep quiet and not to pursue the case," the victim's father told the court.
Maurya, incidentally, is the tenth BSP MLA facing charges of rape.
'Nude photos and blackmail'
In October this year, a senior BSP minister was charged with rape, causing considerable embarrassment to an already beleaguered Mayawati government.
UP minister for rural development Daddu Prasad was accused of raping Kamla, a 27-year-old woman from Bargadh village in Chitrakoot district.
However, UP chief minister Mayawati refused to take action against Prasad saying that the allegations against him were fabricated and politically motivated.
The woman who had accused the minister’s personal assistant of sexually exploiting her two days ago, said in a statement before the judicial magistrate in Chitrakoot that the minister had raped her in the Banda Dak bungalow in 2007.
She said that the minister and his PA Angad, had even clicked her nude photographs which were later used to blackmail her.
