Thackeray worse, advised rest
Doctors have advised complete rest to ailing Shiv Sena chief Bal Thackeray and have requested his family to ensure that he avoids meeting anyone.
On Saturday, RPI leader Ramdas Athawale had gone to meet the Sena chief at his Bandra residence Matoshree, but was denied a personal interaction.
“I had come to meet Balasaheb, but could not meet him as doctors advised against meeting him. I spoke to Uddhav for about an hour. He told me that Balasaheb has stopped eating solid food, which is a concern. But otherwise, his health is fine. He even reads newspapers every morning,” Mr Athawale said, after coming out from Matoshree.
According to sources, for the last couple of days, the Sena chief has been on an intravenous drip and also sporadically on oxygen supply. Speculation about Mr Thackeray’s health condition came about after he did not attend the party’s Dussehra rally.
This was followed by political leaders’ sudden visits to his residence. MNS chief Raj Thackeray and state PWD minister Chhagan Bhujbal were among the leaders who met senior Thackeray at his residence in the last couple of days.
However, these meetings have now been stopped on the advice of Mr Thackeray’s doctors.
On Friday, Uddhav had rubbished speculations about his father’s deteriorating health condition and claimed that he would recover soon.
