Thane man beheads wife, daughter

In a shocking incident, a man allegedly beheaded his wife and infant daughter here today apparently because he suspected her on infidelity, police said.

Chandrakant Ahire, a middle-aged man hailing from Nashik, lived with his wife and one-and-a-half year-old daughter Vaishnavi at Nalla Sopara, a distant Mumbai suburb, in Thane district.

He suspected the character of his wife Sangeeta (25).

This afternoon they had an argument and in a fit of rage Ahire chopped off the heads of his wife and daughter with a sharp-edged weapon, the police said.

The man has been arrested and charged with murder, the police added.
