Thank Kalmadi and Raja, not Anna: Jaspal Bhatti
Comedian and satirist Jaspal Bhatti wants that the praise for the recent anti-corruption campaign should not be given to Team Anna or the government or other important players. Instead, he says the credit should go to politicians behind bars like Suresh Kalmadi, A. Raja and Kanimozhi.
"Both the houses of parliament praised Anna Hazare. Rahul Gandhi also had a word of praise for Anna. Anna in turn praised the parliament and all his team-members. What I feel is that at this juncture, we should not forget to thank people like A. Raja, Kanimozhi, Kalmadi, Telgi, Harshad Mehta and many others because of whom this agitation against corruption became this huge and a success," Bhatti, in his satirical style, told the media on Monday.
"We should also thank all those who stashed their hard-earned black money so far away in Swiss banks and gave impetus to this Anna's move. Without these people, the anti-corruption campaign would not have been there at all," he said.
Taking a dig at Congress MP Manish Tewari for his utterances against Hazare and union Minister Kapil Sibal for taking a hard stand against the Anna crusade, Bhatti said they only made the agitation more ‘colourful’.
"It is the corrupt who have united the whole nation today. Had they not contributed so much to the black money, the campaign could not have got so much support," Bhatti added.
Bhatti not only lead his team of actors to be part of Anna Hazare's crusade at Ramlila ground in New Delhi but has been associated during previous campaigns at Jantar Mantar and other places.
