Threat from terror, left-wing extremism remains: PM
Security threats from terror outfits and left-wing extremism remain and constant vigil is needed to tackle these challenges, said Prime Minister Manmohan Singh.
Speaking at the inauguaration of internal security meet for chief ministers, he said the situation is by and large satisfactory since February 2011.
However, threats from terror and Naxal outfits still remain to be tackled and 'we have to deal with them firmly,' he said.
In Jammu and Kashmir, there has been perceptible improvement in security environment, Manmohan said. 'The situation in the northeast region is still complex.'
Further, the Prime Minister said like other internal security matters, 'we need joint and coordinated efforts to deal with the challenge of terrorism.'
Manmohan Singh warned that terrorist groups are nimble, more lethal than ever and increasingly networked across frontiers.
