Three held trying to bury live baby girl

Parents of a 45-day old baby girl were arrested on Thursday for trying to bury their child alive - in a graveyard.

The incident, in Pilakhuwa, Uttar Pradesh came to light on Wednesday when a local heard the baby's cries and called in the police. Bharati Rani, husband Dinesh Kumar and her brother in law Dinesh have been taken into custody.

The mother, incredibly, told police that she was trying to bury the child alive based on the advice from a 'godman'. According to reports, the couple had lost a child to an illness last year.

Police are on the hunt for the godman.
