Three injured in explosion in UP

Three persons were on Friday injured in an explosion suspected to be caused due to crackers stored in a house in Khairuddin locality in Pavai police circle here, the police said.

The incident occurred on Friday morning in the house of Matru, a cracker seller. The house collapsed and three persons were injured seriously, they said, adding the victims were rushed to a hospital.

"Prima facie it appears that the explosion occurred due to stored crackers as Matru is in business of selling crackers," Sub-Divisional Magistrate Girish Chandra Srivatava said.

He said that the investigation was on in the matter and the administration was verifying whether Matru had valid licence for selling the crackers or not.
