Three kids injured in bomb attack on Trinamul leader
The continuing electoral violence took a tragic turn when three children were injured in a bomb explosion at the house of a Trinamul Congress leader in a Malda village. One of them Aziz is critical. The bomb blast triggered a blame game. The Trinamul Congress camp accused the Congress workers of hurling bombs at Merina Sultana’s home while the Congress said that the bombs were stocked there.
District magistrate G. Kirankumar said that bomb explosion took place in Birnagar village in Kaliachak police station when the three children were playing. “A DSP is probing the incident,” he said, when asked whether bombs were thrown at the children from outside or they were present in the house.
Tourism minister Krishnendu Narayan Chowhdury, who rushed to see the injured children at the Malda Medical College and Hospital, said that the Congress goons had hurled bombs at her party candidate’s home. “If a stockpile of bombs had exploded as alleged by the Congress, the room of the house would have been ripped apart and the three children would have been instantly killed,” he added. Rejecting his claim, Congress spokesperson Abdul Manan said that Mr Chowdhury was speaking like a forensic expert.
