Tihar inmates give financial help to Uttarakhand flood victims
New Delhi: A section of prisoners along with Tihar jail staff will donate around Rs 13 lakh for the victims of flood-ravaged Uttarakhand.
Tihar Law officer Sunil Gupta said a significant number of prisoners were very ‘concerned’ over the natural calamity in Uttarakhand and have already collected around Rs five lakh for the victims of the devastation.
"The staff of Tihar has decided to contribute one day's salary for the victims which will be around Rs 7 to 8 lakhs. The prisoners will contribute around Rs five lakh," he said. Gupta said a total amount of around Rs 13 lakh will be handed over to Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit for depositing in the Prime Minister's relief fund for helping the flood victims.
