Tiwari fined `75k, suit thrown out
New Delhi. Aug. 13: The Delhi High Court on Friday dismissed a plea by the senior Congress leader and former State governor, Mr Narayan Dutt Tiwari, raising objections to additional material included in a paternity suit against him.
Justice S. Ravindra Bhat, while dismissing Mr Tiwari’s application, also imposed costs of Rs 75,000 on him.
A Delhi-based lawyer, Mr Rohit Shekhar, had filed a paternity suit claiming that he was the son of Mr Tiwari and a Congress activist, Ms Ujjwala Sharma, a charge denied by the Congress leader. In his petition, the senior leader raised objections to the information incorporated by Mr Shekhar in his fresh paternity suit. Mr Shekhar had said that had tried to meet Mr Tiwari at an airport in 2005. The HC had earlier rejected Tiwari’s plea that the petition should be dismissed as it was meant to malign him.
