TJAC rejects Hyderabad as common capital

In view of the attacks on Telangana people during the APNGOs rally, the Telangana Joint Action Committee (TJAC) on Saturday rejected the Centre’s move to make Hyderabad the common capital of the two states for 10 years or a UT and demanded Telangana with 10 districts with Hyderabad as the sole capital.

Reviving the Telangana stir, the TJAC announced fortnight-long rallies, meetings and signature campaigns across Telangana culminating in a mega “Sakala Jana Bheri Sadassu” at Nizam College, Hyderabad, on September 29 to bring pressure on the Centre to speed up the bifurcation process. The committee also decided to celebrate the merger of the Hyderabad state with the Indian Union on September 17 in a big way, organise a Telangana reconstruction meet in Vikarabad on September 22, support the MRPS meet in Guntur on September 26 and BJP leader Sushma Swaraj’s public meeting at Mahbubnagar on September 28 among other programmes.
The TJAC steering committee, which met here on Saturday under the chairmanship of Prof. Kodandaram, opined that the Congress high command’s delay in implementing the CWC’s resolution in carving out a Telangana state, including preparation of a Cabinet note and passing a Bill in Parliament, had given scope to Seemandhra leaders to create a rift among people and hatch a conspiracy plan to stall the Telangana process.
TJAC and its affiliates — the TRS, BJP, CPI(ML), New Democracy and others — which met in Nacharam, decided to intensify the stir to pressurise the Centre.

I want to begin with a little story that was told to me by a leading executive at Aptech. He was exercising in a gym with a lot of younger people.

Shekhar Kapur’s Bandit Queen didn’t make the cut. Neither did Shaji Karun’s Piravi, which bagged 31 international awards.
