Chennai: With the start of New Year, the state government’s official website has got a complete new look with more user-friendly options aimed at improving services to visitors. The redesigned website has undergone a complete makeover and is packed with loads of information including important government orders and notifications of the past decade in its ‘archives’ features. However, there were minor glitches on the first day as visitors were not able to access some details.
“We were taken by surprise by the new look of the state government’s official website as several exciting features have been included in it, besides the pleasant makeover,” said a netizen from Chennai.
Though there were no changes made on the home page (www.tn.gov.in), the most visited features like whats’ new and Press release have been given a facelift with a pleasing sky blue background which would make browsing a pleasure for the user, said a source in the government.
As regard to the ‘what’s new’ aspect, the list of GOs and notifications have been listed in proper manner as against the random arrangements in the previous settings. The topic ‘archives’ dates back to 2004 and encompasses important orders pertaining to various governmental departments and includes results of various exams conducted by the government for recruitment purposes even. The user can see with ease the ‘press releases’ that had been issued by government during the last one month in a single page.
However, users were not able to view certain documents in the archives. When asked, officials told that it was not unusual to have some ‘teething problem’ in the initial stages. “Everything will be set right in a few days,” an official said.

I want to begin with a little story that was told to me by a leading executive at Aptech. He was exercising in a gym with a lot of younger people.

Shekhar Kapur’s Bandit Queen didn’t make the cut. Neither did Shaji Karun’s Piravi, which bagged 31 international awards.
