TN minister’s son dies in road mishap
Tamizhmani, 27, son of minister for cooperation Sellur K. Raju, died due to head injuries he suffered after he hit a speed-breaker on NSC Bose road in front of Madras HC on Sunday night and was thrown off his two-wheeler. He was not wearing a helmet while riding the bike.
A police patrol team immediately admitted him to GH and he was later shifted to Apollo hospital. He was declared dead Monday. “He was admitted in a critical stage and succumbed to injuries by afternoon,” hospital sources said.
Tamizhmani, a graduate and yoga teacher, was returning from north Chennai to his Greenways road residence. An autorickshaw driver alerted the police.
Police denied Tamizhmani was drunk, but conceded that he was speeding. The bike skidded after hitting the speed-breaker and he fell, police explained. The body was taken to Madurai, his native place.
