TN tieup: Cong eye on Bihar
Even before the announcement of the poll schedule, the Tamil Nadu political scenario has entered into a feverish pitch, with many theories about the alliance doing the rounds, the declaration of Mr Ghulam Nabi Azad that the Congress-DMK alliance will continue notwithstanding.
But it’s a known fact that there are many in the state Congress who are not in favour of being a part of the DMK-led Democratic Progressive Alliance (DPA). The AIADMK too is openly courting the Congress.
Mindful of the ground realities in the state and an opportunity to play a decisive role in the next government formation, the central leadership of the Congress is mulling over changing the Tamil Nadu gameplan.
According to sources, it is waiting for the Bihar polls to be completed. If it notches up a sizeable tally, it believes its bargaining position in Tamil Nadu will get greatly enhanced. Secondly, if Bihar throws up a hung Assembly and if the Congress is in a position to help Nitish Kumar form the government by breaking his alliance with the BJP, then it will be in an unassailable position.
