Top court tells u.p. to leave 2g officer alone
The Supreme Court on Wednesday rapped the Uttar Pradesh government for initiating proceedings against a senior ED officer investigating the 2G spectrum allocation scam, saying allegations are being made against him to “prevent him from conducting the probe in the scam fearlessly”.
The apex court stayed legal proceedings agai-nst ED deputy director Rajeshwar Singh, on whose plea contempt proceeding were initia-ted by it against Sahara Group chief Subrata Roy for allegedly interfering with the probe.
A bench of Justices G.S. Singhvi and K.S. Radhakrishanan said Mr Singh needs to be protected as he is being targeted at the behest of “someone at the top in the hierarchy”.
