UP top police officer endorses honour killing: Reports

According to reports Uttar Pradesh police official sparked controversy after he was caught on camera saying that if his sister runs away, he will either kill her or commit suicide.

Satish Kumar, DIG of Saharanpur range made this remark when he met a man who had come to complain about his daughter who had reportedly eloped.

Reports say top police officer told the worried father that if someone's sister or daughter runs away, the person should drown himself in water. Had it been his sister he would have shot her or killed himself.

He also said that he would not have spared the culprit even if it was a close relative.
