TP Chandrasekhar 'killed on orders of Kunhananthan'
The Special Investigation Team probing the T.P. Chandrasekharan murder case made a sensational breakthrough on Thursday by arresting three key members of the 7-member killer squad from Peringanammala, a CPM citadel near Iritty in Kannur district.
What is even more, two of them – Kodi Suni and Kirmani Manoj – have reportedly told the SIT that they had killed on orders from P.K. Kunhananthan, CPM Panur area committee member, still in hiding.
Muhammed Shafi was the third member of the squad to be arrested in a daring, wee-hour operation 40 days after the Revolutionary Marxist Party leader was slain.
The trio was taken into custody by a team led by Thalassery DySP A.P. Shoukkathali under the supervision of AIG Anup Kuruvila John.
Police has also taken into custody three CPM workers, Sreejith, Sudheesh and Jigesh, suspected to be involved in organising logistics for the culprits.
The police conducted medical examination of Kodi Suni alias M.K. Sunilkumar and his two friends at the Vadakara district hospital after a round of interrogation. The three are likely to be presented before the magistrate on Friday.
With these arrests, the SIT has now nabbed six out of the seven members of the killer squad besides 37 others. Shinoj is the only member of the squad evading arrest.
The SIT had arrested three other members of the killer squad, T.K. Rejeesh, Annan Sijith and M.C. Anoop, earlier.
SIT is now on the trail of CPM leader Kunhananthan, the alleged mastermind behind the plot.
