Trade talks with Pak in Delhi today
The commerce secretaries of India and Pakistan begin two-day talks in New Delhi on Monday, where India getting “most favoured nation” status from Pakistan will be top of the agenda. Pakistan’s commerce secretary Zafar Mahmood, who arrived Saturday, plans to table a list of 233 sensitive items under the South Asian Free Trade Area. He said the current level of engagement had a “mandate from the Pakistan political leadership”.
This is the sixth round of talks on commercial and economic cooperation between the two sides. India’s commerce secretary Rahul Khullar visited Islamabad in April.

Jaitley to fight next LS polls

BJP president Nitin Gadkari’s announcement that the party’s PM candidate will be from the Lok Sabha is laying the roadmap for all top leaders. A senior leader confirmed that Leader of the Opposition Arun Jaitley will contest the next Lok Sabha elections. It is learnt his constituency too has been identified, but will not be disclosed till the party formally approves it.
