Traders get relief: MCD sealing only after June 30
The spectre of sealing of “unauthorised commercial establishments” from June 1 was on Monday deferred to at least June 30 with MCD officials telling members of its standing committee that there was no question of resuming sealing before the last date for paying conversion charges — which was June 30.
Several councillors raised the matter at the standing committee meeting, chaired for the first time by newly-elected chairman Yogender Chandolia. MCD additional commissioner R.K. Srivastava said there was no question of the sealing drive being resumed before June 30. Traders had been apprehensive about this with the Supreme Court-appointed committee directing the MCD to resume sealing premises for which conversion charges had not been paid from June 1 onwards.
