Trafficking racked busted in Bengal
A girl-trafficking racket was busted in West Bengal by the South 24-Parganas police on Friday. Four members, including a woman, of the gang which trafficked minor girls from Basanti, Canning, Sonarpur and adjoining areas of the district to Bihar and Uttar Pradesh were arrested.
The victims were lured with job offers but were actually taken to dance-bars there.
Superintendent of police (South 24-Parganas) Pravin Kumar Tripathy said on Saturday that the accused were Rahmatullah Molla alias Rony alias Laltu, 28, of Mallickpur, Saddam Hossain Peyada, 18, of Dadpur and his relatives Sirajul Peyada, 12, and Salima Biwi, 45.
Their arrests came after a district police team went to Bihar and rescued a minor girl from there around 15 days ago.
Based on the girl’s revelations the police laid a trap. According to the chalked-out plan, a woman police constable and a girl accompanied the four accused to catch the Gorakhpur Express from the Kolkata station in the afternoon. They were travelling to Bihar, disclosed a police officer.
The traffickers were caught at the station. A case of immoral trafficking has been registered against them at the Sonarpur police station.
Three of the quartet were produced at the court which remanded them in the police custody. Meanwhile, a special police team left for Bihar with Rahmatullah to rescue more victims, sources added.
