The one-time run of “Sonar Tori (dream boat),” the special train which was scheduled to do the Kolkata-Dhaka stretch on August 7 to commemorate Gurudev Rabindranath Tagore’ 150th birth anniversay is off for now.
Railway minister and Trinamul Congress chief Mamata Banerjee was suppose to board this train to Dhaka. After a day’s halt in Dhaka, the train had been expected to make its return journey on August 9.
The change in schedule has happened as the Bangladesh government will reportedly be busy with preparations to observe the National Mourning Day on August 15.
The day marks the assassination of the country’s founder President, Sheikh Mujibur Rehman.
