Trinamool Congress MLA Kashinath Mishra dies
Kashinath Mishra, a Trinamool Congress MLA from Bankura, died at state-run SSKM hospital in Kolkata on Tuesday after a protracted illness, his family said.
Mishra was 68 and is survived by his wife and a daughter. A five-time MLA from Bankura, Mishra, who switched over to Trinamool Congress from Congress in 1998, was first elected to the state Assembly in 1971.
A former president of Bankura INTUC unit, Mishra was associated with several educational institutions and social welfare organisations of Bankura district. The body will be brought here from Kolkata for the last rights, the family said
Mishra's body was later taken to the assembly premises in Kolkata where Speaker Biman Banerjee and Deputy Speaker Sonali Guha placed wreaths.
Transport minister Madan Mitra and Trinamool Congress MP Subrata Bakshi will accompany the body to Bankura.
