Trinamul MPs meet Chidambaram
Trinamul Congress MPs met home minister P. Chidambaram on Friday demanding steps to prevent the ruling CPI(M) in West Bengal from allegedly amassing illegal weapons “fearing defeat” in the forthcoming assembly elections in West Bengal.
The Trinamul delegation was led by party leader Sudip Bandopadhyay. The MPs alleged that the CPI(M) was running arms training camps in various parts of the state and sought action to dismantle them, party sources said.
“The CPI(M) is procuring illegal arms from Bangladesh, China and Nepal borders. After defeat in the Lok Sabha elections last year, they now fear that they would meet the same fate in the assembly elections and hence have begun mobilising illegal arms,” Mr Bandopadhyay said.
