TRS president threatens to go on a fast again
Telangana Rashtra Sami-thi president K. Chandra-sekhar Rao on Tuesday threatened to begin a fast-unto-death again if the Centre failed to take a decision on Telangana soon.
“I decided to undertake deeksha again as I am sick of the government’s inaction on Telangana. But I have been advised not go ahead,” he said. Mr Rao’s family and Congress MP K. Keshava Rao have pleaded with Mr Rao not to go on fast now.
“Telangana is the only solution now. If we fail, we’ll be buried alive by Seema Andhra leaders. When Telangana merged with Andhra there was a fear of exploitation, now we are experiencing it.”
KCR’s 2009 fast had led to Union home minister P. Chidambaram’s announcement that the process had been launched for a separate Telangana, but this was kept on hold after mass resignations by Seema Andhra leaders.
