Tunnels from Pak filled up fast as India probes
Investigations by security forces into tunnels along the international border and the Line of Control in Jammu and Kashmir have revealed that Pakistan is working overtime to fill the tunnels that originate from their side.
This has hampered work of Indian security agencies who have confirmed that the “network of tunnels” was used to be used for infiltration during the coming winter season. Senior security officials also confirmed that it was for this reason that Pakistani agencies were not co-operating with India as well.
Following the discovery of a tunnel in the Jammu region a few days ago security forces, including the BSF and the Army, along with the Geological Survey had started conducting a massive search along the entire international border and the LoC.
The probe had revealed a vast network of tunnels which was to be used for infiltration by militants during the coming Winter season.
Highly-placed sources in security agencies revealed that in attempt to destroy any evidence suggesting that the tunnels had originated from across the border Pakistan has started filling up them up.
Officials also confirmed it was clear that these tunnels had been dug up with state support. Indian, sources added, plans to take up the issue at an appropriate forum with Pakistan.
“At a time when we wanted help from Pakistan to get to the bottom of this issue they instead of helping us are busy destroying all evidence. And this has adversely affected out investigations,’’ a senior security official remarked.
