Two held in Madurai pipe bomb case
In a breakthrough in the case of pipe bomb that was planted on the scheduled route of BJP leader L.K. Advani, the special investigation team of the CB-CID arrested two persons on Tuesday.
The accused were named as Abdul Rahman, 26, son of Sikkander Basha, of Nelpettai in Madurai and Ismath, 22, son of Khaja Hussain, of Simmakkal in Madurai.
An official release said the two were arrested for their “involvement in the perpetration of the crime.”
Police said Rahman was related to Muslim fundamentalist Imam Ali who was killed in an encounter in Bangalore in September 2002.
