UDD seeks details of BDA allotments
Bengaluru: With the cancellation of allotment and registration of 2.35 acres of land at Banashankari 5th stage to the BDA Employees Welfare Association on charges that it was given at throwaway price, the Urban Development Department (UDD) has sought details of earlier land allotments to the association.
UDD sources said the association was allotted 42 acres at Lingadheeranahalli and Doddabidarakal in 2006 to form a layout. The government had given the in-principle approval. The UDD now wants to know when the layout was formed and the number of sites carved of it.
The UDD has sought information on the number of employees at the BDA and how many of them had got sites. The UDD has asked whether all the employees submitted affidavits to the BDA declaring that neither they, nor their family members had sites in Bengaluru. The department wants to know why 20 employees were left out, the sources said.
BDA commissioner T. Sham Bhat told Deccan Chronicle that he has not received any official communication from the UDD. But if that department seeks files, the BDA will furnish them, he added. The government on Tuesday cancelled the allotment of prime 2.35 acres of land at Banashankari 5th stage, to the association.
The BDA had allotted the land for a meagre Rs 8.6 lakh, while its actual worth was nearly Rs 100 crore. The registration was cancelled after the Chief Minister Siddaramaiah intervened and wanted to look into the files in detail, the sources said.
