UK asks for pending payments
After Australia, now it is Britain asking for payment due to a private company for services rendered during the Commonwealth Games.
British high commissioner to India, Richard Stagg has asked for expediting payment of `96 crores to British broadcaster SIS Live, under its contract with Prasar Bharati for coverage of the Games.
“The company is owed `96 crores. It is not right that it should be penalised in this way. We look forward to an early resolution. We are pursuing this matter with extreme urgency. SIS Live is a leading British broadcaster with over 70 years’ experience of covering major sporting events. SIS Live’s coverage of the Games was widely praised as first-class. The quality of the production captured the very essence of the spectacular opening and closing ceremonies and the games themselves. It provided great enjoyment for Indian and international audiences alike. It fulfilled its contractual obligations, against which all payments should have been made by now,” Mr Stagg added.
