Ulfa: Govt secretly killing our cadres, kin
The outlawed United Liberation Front of Asom (Ulfa) hardliners here on Monday slammed the ruling Congress government and charged them of inventing the “secret killing” which others followed to suppress their struggle for freedom in the state.
In reference to Assam chief minister Tarun Gogoi’s statement that his government could not bring the culprits of “secret killings” of Ulfa family members to book for want of evidence, the publicity secretary of Ulfa Arunoday Asom said that Ulfa hardliners never expected justice from a Congress government which itself was indulging in all kinds of “secret and open” killings of their cadres and sympathisers. In a statement released to the media on email, the Ulfa hardliners claimed that CM Tarun Gogoi’s remark, that they are helpless on secret killings in which there was no evidence was left by killers, was not surprising for them.
“We have seen how the government of India has resorted to cold blooded murder of innocent civilians in Jammu and Kashmir and Punjab to quell their agitation. New Delhi applied the same formula in Assam by resorting to killing of Ulfa activists in Assam. The state governments, be it of the Congress, or AGP, acted as tools to the Central governments, be it of the Congress or the BJP,” the Ulfa stated.
Mr Gogoi said here on Saturday, “Secret killers were on the prowl at night wearing black clothes during the AGP regime. They left no evidence.”
