Uma Bharti bid to win over BJP detractors
Barely two days after she was re-inducted in the BJP, Uma Bharti is busy mending fences. In a bid to erase her famous acrimonies with some of the top most leaders in the BJP, Ms Bharti is losing no time in meeting some of these leaders. On Thursday, the firebrand sanyasin met Leader of Opposition in Rajya Sabha Arun Jaitley, to take
his “blessings.” Mr Jaitley also extended an invitation to her for lunch at his home. Sources disclosed Ms Bharti has sought an appointment with Madhya Pradesh chief minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan, his known critic, to quell the impression that both are at loggerheads.
In a goodwill gesture, Ms Bharti also had a talk with Sushma Swaraj, Leader of Opposition in Lok Sabha, soon after BJP chief Nitin Gadkari had formally announced her reinduction. Ms Bharti, who is also former Madhya Pradesh chief minister, also had a meeting BJP parliamentary party chairman L.K. Advani on Tuesday. Ms Bharti had to leave the saffron party in 2005 after she publicly criticised senior leaders including Mr Advani.
Though Mr Gadkari had said that Ms Bharti will concentrate in poll bound UP to increase party’s prospects, sources disclosed she has been specifically asked by the party brass not to interfere in MP.
