Uma rules out her BJP return
Former BJP leader Uma Bharti on Sunday said “at present” she had no plans to re-join the saffron party which had expelled her in 2005.
The firebrand Hindutva leader said although she shared good rapport with senior BJP leader L.K. Advani and party chief Nitin Gadkari, she was not joining them anytime soon.
“At present, I have no plans to re-join the party,” she said, adding, “despite working for the party for a long period, I got bad treatment.” The former Madhya Pradesh chief minister was talking to reporters after attending a function in adjoining Wardha district.
Ms Bharti also came out in support of Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP) president Ashok Singhal over his controversial comments against Congress chief Sonia Gandhi.
The firebrand Hindutva leader also targeted Congress general secretary Rahul Gandhi over his statements against the RSS.
Talking to reporters after attending a function in adjoining Wardha district, she said Mr Singhal had said nothing wrong and he was only expressing his views.
The former Madhya Pradesh chief minister’s reaction was sought over Mr Singhal’s warning to Mrs Gandhi over critical remarks against the RSS by Congress leaders.
Targeting Rahul Gandhi, Ms Bharti said the young Congress leader has been making “irresponsible” statements against RSS. The Amethi MP had equated the RSS with banned terror outfit Simi.
