UPA govt is a ‘dead body’, says mamata
Spewing venom against the Centre, chief minister Mamata Banerjee on Tuesday said that the UPA-2 government was dead and it could not be revived by such moves. “It (UPA) has turned into a rotten dead body which cannot be revived by any means. Now the only decision they have to take is when will they take it to the crematorium or graveyard,” she added. Launching a scathing attack against the UPA-2, she said that it had lost all moral authority to rule the country. “For the first time, I find myself in total agreement with Anna Hazare and his team that this government should seek a fresh mandate from the people because it has lost its right to remain in power,” she said.
Renewing her promise to move a no-confidence motion against the UPA, Ms Banerjee asked why they government did not seek a confidence vote voluntarily. “This is a minority government and its reshuffle decision was both unethical and unconstitutional,” she added.
Ms Banerjee claimed that the Congress leadership tried to persuade SP, BSP and DMK to join the government but no one agreed. “Out of the 22 new ministers, all are from the Congress barring an NCP minister. This is an one-party government,” she said. She branded the three Congress MPs from Bengal — Adhir Chowdhury, Deepa Das Munshi and Abu Hashem Khan Chowdhury — who were given ministerial berths as “valueless ministers.”
