UPA to launch big campaign
The UPA government is set to launch a massive nation-wide campaign to elicit the benefits of food security programme. With several states going to the polls later this year and the country set for general elections in less than a year, the UPA hopes its food security scheme to be the game-changer.
Massive media blitzkrieg is to be launched soon even as several Congress-ruled states plan to implement the scheme at the earliest. The step comes after the success of the first phase of the Bharat Nirman: Glimpses of India Story campaign.
The information and broadcasting ministry has prepared a detailed plan to launch a massive media campaign regarding the food security programme. It is learnt that the ministry is planning to launch the campaign on television, radio, print and outdoor publicity with the objective of informing and appraising the public.
Confirming the latest move of the Manmohan Singh government, information and broadcasting minister Manish Tewari told this newspaper that “Information dissemination about the government’s initiatives is the integral part of the I&B ministry’s remit.”
The UPA government had recently unleashed Bharat Nirman campaign: “Meelo hum aa gaye meelo hamien jaana hain” across the country. With elections just an year away, the UPA government had launched a multi-media initiative aimed at listing its achievements over the past nine years.
