UPA ministers to tour states

In a bid to improve the UPA-II’s image, the top ministers of the Union government are likely to travel across the states to interact with the local media and hold GoM briefings there if need be.

The ministers of state in the Union Cabinet have also been asked to appear on the regional channel to put across the Centre’s view point.
The move comes after the government received a major boost following a Delhi court dismissing a petition for making home minister, P. Chidambaram, a co accused in the 2G scam.
Union minister of state in the Prime Minister’s Office (PMO), V. Narayanaswami, felt that the positive achievements of the government “were not being highlighted.”
It was learnt that as a party of propaganda blitzkrieg, the GoM on media is likely to be held across the states. A GoM on this line is being planned in Hyderabad, sources said.
The GoM likely to be held in Hyderabad shortly will be addressed by Union home minister P. Chidambaram and Union human resources development minister Kapil Sibal.
For regional channels, ministers of states from Tamil Nadu, Andhra Pradesh, Kerala and Karnataka have been shortlisted. “The idea is to respond quickly and effectively on issues including contentious ones,” a government official said.
After the proposed GoM briefing in Hyderabad, the next destination is likely to be in the Trinamul chief Mamata Banerjee’s state — Kolkata. Union law minister Salman Khurshid is expected to hold the GoM in Ms Banerjee’s state.
Mr Narayanswami also pointed out the postiive response the government received following the “ Grievance Redressal Bill” in Parliament.

I want to begin with a little story that was told to me by a leading executive at Aptech. He was exercising in a gym with a lot of younger people.

Shekhar Kapur’s Bandit Queen didn’t make the cut. Neither did Shaji Karun’s Piravi, which bagged 31 international awards.
