U.S. woman,LUKE want to withdraw case
Australian cricketer Luke Pomersbach approached the Delhi high court on Thursday along with American citizen Zohal Hamid and her fiancé Sahil Peerzada seeking quashing of the FIR filed by the couple against him.
The joint plea filed by the trio says they have reached an amicable out-of-court settlement and do not wish to go ahead with the criminal case filed after Hamid accused the cricketer of molesting her and injuring her fiancé Peerzada at their room in a city hotel.
The petition, which is likely to come up before Justice M.L. Mehta of the high court on Friday, says Hamid and Peerzada are “fully satisfied” and believe in the “genuineness and sincerity of regret expressed by Pomersbach”.
The trio has said in its plea that the incident that occurred during the wee hours of May 18 at a five star hotel “was unfortunate” and they wish to “end the episode as all the persons involved in it are of young age and they do not wish to blemish each other”.
Meanwhile, Hamid’s lawyer said she has also decided not to initiate legal action against Siddharth Mallya, director of IPL team Royal Challengers of which Pomersbach is a member, for making derogatory comments.
