V Hanumantha Rao booked for provocative statements
Hyderabad: A case has been registered against Rajya Sabha MP V Hanumantha Rao by the Andhra Pradesh police on Sunday for his alleged provocative statements.
The case was registered following a complaint lodged by Students JAC of SV University in III Town Police Station in Visakhapatnam stating that the Congress MP made provocative statements against Seemandhra employees. The students also staged dharna before the Tirupati (Urban) SP office demanding VHR's arrest. However, police began investigation after registering a case, sources said.
It may be mentioned that VHR has allegedly stated that government employees from Seemandhra region working in Telangana region would have to leave Hyderabad as per rules. If government employees want to stay in Hyderabad, then they can do so by quitting their jobs.
These remarks have drawn flak from the Samaikhyandhra activists who alleged that the MP has hurt the sentiments of the Seemandhra people and employees.
Meanwhile, three persons arrested by Tirupati police in connection with attack on VHR's convoy at Alipiri were produced in a court and sent to judicial remand till August 20.
