Varun invites aunt Sonia for wedding

Feb. 16: The differences between his mother Maneka Gandhi and Congress president Sonia Gandhi notwithstanding, young BJP MP Varun Gandhi on Wednesday called on his aunt to invite her for his wedding to graphic designer Yamini Roy on March 6. And stayed for lunch!

The young MP from Pilihibit is to have two wedding receptions: one in Delhi, the other in his constituency.

Though the daughters-in-law of the Nehru-Gandhi clan are estranged, cousins Rahul, Priyanka and Varun share a good rapport. When Rahul was in London pursuing his studies, Varun shared a room with him.

When Varun took oath as a first-time MP two years ago, he acknowledged the presence of his aunt, who in turn, thumped the desk and applauded the political greenhorn.
