Varun meets Sonia to invite her
The differences between his mother Maneka Gandhi and Congress supremo Sonia Gandhi notwithstanding, young BJP MP Varun Gandhi on Wednesday called on his aunt to invite her for his wedding that is to be solemnised on March 6.
The 30-year-old is all set to tie the knot with Yamini Roy, a graphic designer. The visit to the 10, Janpath residence of his aunt lasted nearly an hour during which he reportedly had lunch with her. The young MP from Pilihibit is to have two receptions post-marriage, one in Delhi and the other in his constituency.
Though the two daughters-in-law of the Nehru-Gandhi clan have remained estranged right from Indira Gandhi’s time, the cousins Rahul, Priyanka and Varun have always been on good terms. It is to be remembered that when Rahul was in London pursuing his studies, Varun would stay with him.
Though both the families have chosen to be on opposing sides when it comes to politics and ideology, the personal rapport between the siblings of the Congress’ first family has never seen a downslide. Indeed, when Varun took oath as a first-time MP two years ago, he made it a point to acknowledge the presence of his aunt in the Lok Sabha.
