Vasundhara meets old rivals, makes peace
After showing her defiance on the issue of rathyatra, former chief minister and BJP leader Vasundhara Raje is now moving to make peace with her rivals. Ms Raje had called on party’s old guards on Saturday in Kota. Not only that, she also visited two senior leaders of the ruling Congress Party in Kota. When mediapersons asked about it, she refused to describe it and said “raaj ko raaj rahne do” [let a secret be a secret].
The Leader of Opposition Raje met former BJP president and RSS favourite Raghuveer Singh Kaushal while she was on her way from Jhalawar to Kota. Accompanied by a group of her loyal followers, including BJP MLAs Om Birla and Bhawani Singh Rajawat, Ms Raje spent quite some time with Mr Kaushal. Mr Kaushal is an old guard and leads a pro Sangh group in Kota. He is known to be close to former state BJP chief Lalit Chaturvedi, who has been vocal against Raje’s working style.
Only in May, Ms Raje stormed out from a meeting of party’s core committee in Jaipur when the national leadership endorsed former home minister Gulab Chand Kataria’s plan to under take a rathyatra in Udaipur division. She even threatened to quit the party. Ms Raje called on former Union minister and senior leader K.K. Goyal in Kota and exchanged views. Mr Goyal was close to former vice-president late Bhairon Singh Shekhawat, who was not on good terms with Ms Raje.
